The IPC an autonomous institution under the MoHFW mandated with publication of IP, NFI at regular intervals, certification of IP Reference Substances. The IPC functions as National Coordination Centre for Pharmacovigilance Programme of India and Materiovigilance Programme of India. The Secretary MoHFW is the Chairperson of the IPC. The Secretary-cum-Scientific Director is the Chief Scientific and Executive Officer of the Commission
