The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is an “International Organization” established through a Memorandum of Agreement between the Government of India and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) dated 28thMarch 1972. ICRISAT has been extended select privileges and immunities in pursuance of Section 3 of the United Nations (Privileges & Immunities) Act, 1947 through Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. UI/222(66)/71 dated 28th October 1972, issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. ICRISAT, a CGIAR Research Center, is a non-profit, public international research organization that undertakes scientific research for development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. ICRISAT Global Headquarters is located in Patancheru (near Hyderabad), Telangana, India and has six country offices in sub-Saharan Africa.
